MEET THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR BRINGING “A STORY OF THE BATMAN” TO LIFE.
Joshua Ford
Writer/Editor/
Producer
For as long as he can remember, Joshua Ford has loved telling stories. Whether it was creating comics or short stories in school to share with his classmates and teachers, or articles published in his hometown newspaper that he worked at for the better part of six years - Josh couldn’t get enough of it.
While battling heavy waves of depression, Josh turned to The Batman 2022 movie. Connecting to Bruce’s visible pain, Josh watched the movie a reasonable amount (over 60 times and counting) because it made him FEEL something. In July of 2022 Josh decided to write a script using The Batman 2022 characters. Originally intended to be a LEGO stop-motion, the project has grown to be something more - an experience that Ford is very proud of and thankful for.
Getting the inspiration to do a Digital Motion Comic from YouTube channels like Zacky San & The Russian Comicbook Geek, Josh began to brainstorm what would be needed to bring this script to life in the ultimate way possible. Josh reached out to those listed below and hasn’t looked back - assembling the perfect team. The collaboration has been an incredible highlight for Josh and is something he doesn’t take for granted.
On top of editing the Motion Comic and producing the project, Josh voices Bruce Wayne/The Batman, as well as Reed Porcello and a few other small characters.
A Story of The Batman is a story of hope, and everyone could use a little hope.
Jaxson Derr
Comic Illustrator - Pencils & Inks
There was never a defining moment for Jaxson when he wanted to become an artist, as he never can recall not being creative in some way. He always had his head buried in a sketchbook or eyes glued to some form of entertainment.
Beginning to share his work with the world on Instagram in high school led to him gaining over 58 thousand followers. Growing his reputation, his work started to become featured by Comicbook, Screenrant and many more.
Working hard felt more like play when it came to art, as he often attended creative classes all throughout school, including college when he attended SCAD. It was at this time when he started to garner more experience in the professional field, working with Damien LeVeck and Taylor Ri’chard on horror film posters, as well as working freelance doing concept art commissions.
Due to Jaxson’s liking for superheroes and Batman specifically, writer Joshua Ford recognized his work on Instagram and reached out to Jaxson to work on a fan project he had been writing. Jaxson describes his response as “the easiest ‘yes’ to a project” he had ever had. Jaxson is now the main penciler and inker for A Story of The Batman.
Kae Richardson
Comic Illustrator - Colorist
Kae is an artist and comic book colorist living in Canada. From a young age, Kae found solace and inspiration in comics, animation, and videogames. She can't remember a time when she wasn't either making fanart of her favorite stories and characters or trying to create her own!
While studying art and exploring different artistic mediums, Kae discovered a fascination for the technical aspects of lighting and color. This, combined with her lifelong love of visual storytelling, led her to pursue work in color art.
As she helps others tell their stories through color and light, Kae is often reminded of the wonder and excitement of her younger self. And she is grateful she gets to be part of an industry that captivated her for so long.
Caleb Ford
Composer - Main Scores & Themes
Caleb’s love for both music and superheroes started at a very young age. Although he couldn’t play the recorder to save his life in elementary school, he continued engaging in activities such as musicals and joining the band in school.
Primarily playing euphonium and trombone, Caleb has been in multiple ensembles such as concert band, jazz band, marching band, and a youth symphony. He also composes and arranges music for fun.
Listening to music is one of Caleb's favorite hobbies (alongside building Lego). Some of his favorite artists are Frank Sinatra, Michael Bublé, Laufey, and Childish Gambino. Another of his hobbies is watching movies, and his favorites are Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, and The Sound of Music.
Caleb is a huge superhero fan, a real nerd (respectfully). Getting the opportunity to write the music for a Batman project was a best-case scenario, especially considering the fact that he’d be working for his brother in exchange for Lego sets.
Spencer "Mr. Hollywood" Dyke
Composer - Metallic Songs & Pieces
Spencer Dyke, aka "Mr. Hollywood", is an entirely self-taught musician who grew up listening to a variety of rock and metal music. He grew up playing mostly guitar, but later learned how to play drums in high school out of need for being able to compose music more effectively.
Choosing to write primarily lower tunings, he enjoys delivering skull-crushing, Slamming, Brutal Death Metal and Deathcore riffs as well as emotional Metalcore and Post-Hardcore leads.
Being commissioned to write and compose music for A Story of the Batman, he's found himself challenged to become more comfortable utilizing lower tunings on 8 string guitars, as well as becoming more comfortable with clean singing.
Delfina Bouzas
Translator
Delfina is an Argentinian student, currently in her third year of an English-Spanish translation degree. Since her early teens, she’s been drawn to online fan communities of various media. Engaging in these spaces contributed significantly to her English proficiency, as did her favorite hobbies: reading and writing.
Though she’s always enjoyed superhero stories, it’s only recently that Delfina’s delved into the world of comic books, discovering a new passion. She’s particularly fond of Batman and the classic Teen Titans series (she strongly feels that the Bronze Age looks should make a comeback). Her interest in the genre has sparked a desire to enter the world of comic translation.
She’s never without a manga, book, or comic in her backpack; if she is, it’s probably because she has her Kindle with her. Her love for visual storytelling, fan works and Batman drew her towards the A Story of The Batman project, which she’s thrilled to be able to contribute to. Delfina reached out to volunteer her skills and has since become a valued member of the team!
